Email from Ruth Bowles to Sackett-L mail list, posted 5 Jul 2018:
"Review the Estate (will) of Joel Sackett on ancestry.com ? it refers to his wife Lydia, his only daughter Meriah (Mariah or Maria), and his only son Butler.
+Joel Sackett was apparently a sailor, and his wife was the daughter of Hezekiah Todd, so she lived near her family in Cheshire, CT. The will mentions Lydia?s siblings, so it is important to refer to the published Todd genealogy to understand how those names fit into the family.
"The will also mentions guardianship papers for the children, although I have not found them. I am related to Maria, and she ended up in the Norfolk, CT / Sandisfield, MA area, where she married Harvey Smith. Butler appears to have spent his life in New Haven County. Since both Maria and Butler were very young when their father died, the guardianship papers may provide a clue as to why the children ended up in different places as adults.
"Your cousin,
Ruth A. Rowles"
